The Hands on Learning program involves learning and using very practical skills such as gardening, woodwork and cooking. Meaningful projects are designed so that students learn to work collaboratively allowing them to engage, grow confidence and achieve success at school.
The Clubs program began in Term 3 2018 as an initiative to encourage the whole school to work together in mixed-age groups. Students choose a Club from a range of interest areas and participate weekly for four weeks. In Term 4 Clubs have included cooking, craft, games, fitness, Lego and others. Teachers and Teacher Assistants conduct the clubs and our senior students have the opportunity to step up and assist younger students achieve success.
Some children need additional support and nurture to participate in school. The Koorramook program is a unique program in the south west region and involves a small group of children, recommended by Prep –Yr 2 teachers. It operates for two hours on four days. Individual learning plans are developed for these children however the primary focus is the development of their social and emotional skills. Students participate in a range of special activities to enhance their learning such as Read to Oscar – our very popular pet therapy dog.
